Time keeps flying by, Send out 36-40 last week and almost finished 41-45 this week. Would be done but I wasn’t felling good at the start of the week and it really set me back. I hope to finish up 46-51 or more next week but we will see with Turkey day fast approaching. I picked up a few pointers from another knife maker on mirror finishes. It is hard to get a good mirror finish but I am getting better at it everyday. Here’s looking at you! 😉

I use calibers to make sure the grind is meeting up equally on both sides. I free hand my grinds. I also check the edge thickness with them.

I love my work and like to come up with some creative ways to capture it 🙂

I was hoping to finish up these cutting boards before the Holidays, but I am not where I want to be with the knives. I might hire someone to finish them up for me so they can be ready before the end of the year. I only have a few so let me know if you would be interested in a really cool cutting board ([email protected])

They are End Grained Cutting Boards made with Black Walnut, Cherry, and Hard Maple. End Grained Cutting boards are the only way to go they will last forever if properly taken care of and protect your Knives from damage keeping that extra sharp edge longer! Saving you time and money. And the tumbling block design give these cutting boards a 3D look. Once they are finish sanded and oiled they will be a Center piece in your kitchen.

I started out by cutting long strips of the wood at a hair under 60 deg. with the width the same length as the cut making all the sides equal in length.

Next we glued the three pieces of wood together to get our cubes. This was a lot of glueing and the trick was to get a good fit. After they dried we had to clean up all the cubes and sand them so they would fit together nicely. Here are 9 cubes laid out to see how it is going to look.

It took a lot of cubes to make a decent size cutting board. Here I laid out all the cubes and got ready to glue it up. It was hard to clamp the board to make it fit together nicely.

This is definitely not a project for a beginner.

I am going to take some time with the family here next week, so maybe I will only have a 40 hour work week lol. I am looking forward to my Mother coming to visit for a day or two. We bought a nice free ranged turkey and looking forward to some good food. I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving Day. I have so much to be thankful for. I enjoy my work and love what I do. I have a wonderful Wife and a lovely family. And I would like to Thank God first and for most but also all my supporters like you who have helped make my dreams come true. Even though I am working more hours than before it is worth it to be here with the family. Where our children can come out to the shop and hang out with dad and watch and learn. Or like earlier this week one of my sweet daughters came out to sweep up the shop and help out.

May your week be blessed and you have safe travels. Enjoy your family and friends in this week to come!
