Only the best hat you will ever own! Why do I love these hats so much? Well, first off they are made with love from my wife Emily. You wouldn’t think she would have time with raising our large family (10 children, 9 still at home), homeschooling and all.

It all started several years ago when I learned all the wonderful quality of wool.

  1. Wool keeps you warm even when it gets wet!
  2. Did you know that wool doesn’t hold odors, keeping your hat from stinking! That’s because it is naturally anti-microbial, which helps reduce stinky bacteria growth in garments.
  3. Wool provides natural UV protection- this is important when you keep your hair short on top like me 😉
  4. Wool garments are long lasting than compared to cotton or silk. A wool fiber can be bent 20,000 times before breaking, whereas cotton breaks after 3,000 bends.
  5. Moisture wicking – It isn’t so much that wool retains moisture as it is that wool retains an ideal balance of moisture (regardless of how much or little water is exposed)
  6. Hypoallergenic- dust mites don’t like wool, this is good for allergy sufferers and asthmatics like me.
  7. Wool also keeps you cool.

So I got some wool and was super disappointed to find out that it was itchy and it seemed I had a mild allergic reaction to it. 🙁 But then I learned about Alpaca wool. It isn’t itchy like the wool grandma and grandpa used. It also comes in many different natural colors so no harmful dyes are used.

I am sure you will love this hat as much as I do, and if not, send it back in a reasonable time and good condition and I will refund you your money.

Our beautiful hand knit hats are made from 100% superfine Peruvian Alpaca fiber. In its natural undyed colors. Alpaca tends to be warmer than wool. And is so very soft to the touch. It is breathable unlike synthetics fibers (plastics). Alpaca being a natural fiber is biodegradable so it is great for the environment as well as safe on your body.  Alpaca (like wool) doesn’t create or hold smells. So you can wear confidently even the day after sitting at a campfire knowing it hasn’t retained the smell.

When compared to wool, alpaca is silkier and stronger. Alpaca is 7 times stronger than sheep wool.  It doesn’t retain much water and dries faster.  There are no oils like lanolin so it is more ‘allergen’ friendly. It is also considered ‘Itch free’ for most people,  unlike wool.

Our Alpaca stocking hats are free of synthetic dyes and bleach.  More reason to love it!Patrick has worn these hats from this yarn for nearly a decade.

CARE: Gentle hand washing, dry flat. only when needed. Alpaca stays pretty clean on its own And will last longer not being washed. We recommend once a year when you put it away in the spring. And as needed from there. If you hang to dry it will stretch out.  Also heat with friction will felt them. So follow our care suggestions and you will have a wonderful hat for decades!
