Genesis I is out of stock!

Due to such a high demand for custom knives, and wanting to provide as many people as possible with the best cutting performance that money can buy, I have put together a small, light weight, minimalist design that will give you the best cutting performance for a price all can afford. I chose to use a steel that is rather new and due to its high cost is not used very often by other knife makers.

Description

The Genesis, Gen I

Due to such a high demand for custom knives, and wanting to provide as many people as possible with the best cutting performance that money can buy, I have put together a small, light weight, minimalist design that will give you the best cutting performance for a price all can afford. I chose to use a steel that is rather new and due to its high cost is not used very often by other knife makers.

The Genesis

Steel: CTS-XHP Alloy carpenters’ steel

Hardness: 60 HRC

Finish: Stonewashed

AOL: 6.625

Cutting Edge: 2.625

Weight: 1.65 oz.

Sheath: Kydex Neck Knife (pictures available soon)

This is the same steel I use in many of my custom knives. If you want to experience an edge that will perform like nothing you have used before, at a fraction of the cost of a custom knife, or if you want something to hold you over while you wait for your custom knife, this is the knife for you!

I am excited to finally have found some manufacturers I know with state of the art equipment to provide only the best work – right here in the USA. This knife is 100% American made, and its quality is not to be rivaled. The Genesis is the first in the line of quality knives I have planned for the future of MT Knives. So get your piece of history in the making now.

The Genesis was designed for cutting performance and will out perform the competition, however it isn’t a pry bar. Designing a knife that can be used for prying and chopping you sacrifice some of the properties that help it hold a keen edge and maintain a level of sharpness I prefer in a knife. I do plan on designing a bushcraft knife in the future that will be made to handle the type of stress a bushcraft knife is subjected to.

Many similar designs sell for well over $200, however suggested retail for The Genesis is $175 and will be on sale for $150 for a short time.

This knife is very high quality for a production knife and comes SUPER sharp out of the box. Great for the price, little need for improvement except maybe a little jimping. Recommend to any knife collector.

I liked this little knife so much that after I ordered one I stocked up with another five knives. I am giving one to my wife and the others to my close buddies. Wrapping the Genesis in paracord and you’ve got a great looking, super lightweight, low profile neck knife with a blade so sharp you could shave with it. This thing is so light that you might forget you are wearing it. I highly recommend this knife to anyone that wants a great neck knife that you aren’t going to be afraid to abuse a little. Beauty sometimes exists in the painfully simple things. This knife fits that bill.

  3. Chris Banas

This knife is absolutely amazing. The sharpness of this knife is unparalleled. I own a lot of knives and The Genesis is by far the sharpest knife I have ever owned. This is a must buy!

This is a great looking, great performing knife. I absolutely won\’t be without it. Affordability and quality in a knife that will stand the test of time. Comes sharp and holds an edge. I bought several for my family.

I recently used this knife to skin, gut and butcher up a 250 lb hog on the hoof. I did not have to sharpen it once and it felt just as sharp as when it arrived. I\’m VERY satisfied with this knife. The price is right considering the steel, fantastic edge, and it\’s light weight. If you are on the fence on this, then let me assure you that you will not be disappointed if you purchase. Buy with confidence! Bonus that you are supporting a USA produced product by a small business custom knife maker!

I have to agree with the other reviewers. The steel, design in hand, and insane razor-like edge equals high performance neck EDC knife. A week ago I used it exclusively for an Axis deer hunt on Lanai for everything from food prep, cutting rope, popping beer bottle caps, to gutting and de-boning deer. Cuts were precise and it maintained its crazy edge. As a result, I bought another one. Sheath retention on the second Genesis was less secure than the first, so I e-mailed Patrick about it and he phoned me a couple of hours later ultimately saying he will ship another sheath out to me. Patrick\’s excellent customer service exhibited passion and commitment for his profession, and I greatly appreciate it. I definitely will support MT knives in the future.

I had been reading about MT knives and was a bit disappointed that I missed out on the whole stakeholder deal. I was also on the fence about ordering a custom knife. Well the Genesis came along and I took the leap. I truly couldn’t be happier with this knife. I had never owned or even heard of a neck knife before. After a couple of months of wearing it I can tell you I will try to always have one in the future. Most of the time I don’t even notice that it is there, but when you need it, it is just so natural and perhaps even ergonomic to reach and grab it. Now I feel naked when I realize I’m not wearing it. I have been impressed by the quality/durability of the steel as well as the overall production quality. I use mine constantly and it is not quite as phenomenally sharp as it was when I received it but still far to sharp yet to pull out the stones. I enjoy mine so much that I just bought a 2nd as a gift for a close friend and mentor. He is very keen on quality and appreciates the details so I know he will enjoy it as much as I do! I also have to agree with previous comments by other reviewers about Patrick’s customer skills and obvious passion. I travel frequently and often commute 300 plus miles for work. I had designated a shipping address other than my billing address and when Patrick realized he had inadvertently shipped to my billing address he called me immediately. As it turned out the shipping was so fast that my Genesis was delivered before I left (in like 2-3 days from order placement). But within a few minutes of speaking with Patrick it was like speaking with an old friend. We spoke about the work, metallurgy, and various other related and unrelated topics. Truly a pleasure.

    Thanks Patrick!!

Thank You Colin, I try to do my best. Customer service is dying, however I am trying my best to revive it! I treat others how I would like to be treated. And believe on only using and giving the best quality. Not cutting corners for any reason!

Got a genesis for my wife at an event and realized when I got home that I was way to jealous of hers so I got my own. The carbon fiber pouch on mine is very secure and when I\’m at my real job the knife stays tucked away to avoid any awkward conversations, but is at the ready if needed. Daily wear tool for me now and better than a pocket knife that slips out of my pocket. SUPER SHARP upon arrival and I now I just have to learn some mad sharpening skills from Patrick\’s dvd to keep it that way.

I bought the Genesis as a comfortable addition for those times and places that I can\’t carry a gun. A few months later (and with the addition of scales), I find I wear it almost constantly.

It\’s just a great design. It fits my hand, and due to the deep finger grooves I\’m not worried about my fingers slipping up onto the blade. It\’s sturdy as it has to be, but not clunky. It\’s just RIGHT.

Also, and this is just as important as the blade, the sheath FITS. It retains firmly, yet snaps out without excess effort. I can\’t emphasize this enough. I have two other neck knives, neither cheap – one doesn\’t give me confidence that it\’ll stay in and the other won\’t reliably come out.

It\’s unbelievably sharp, and has held it\’s edge beautifully.

I added a set of scales, which took the knife from being useful to darn near perfect for me. It feels more \”settled\” in my hand, still doesn\’t print significantly under a t-shirt, and looks really great.
