Last weekend I had a great time at the 2015 BAM Ozark Conference. BAM (Blacksmith Association of Missouri) is dedicated to the preservation and advancement of the blacksmithing art and craft. I meet several other well known blade smiths there as well. The highlight of the weekend was watching Nathan Robertson from Jackpine Forge make all kinds of hammers and tooling on his 100+ pound Bradley Power Hammer. It was quite the impressive machine! Very quiet (overall except for the hammering part 😉 and smooth running.
Blacksmithing is one of those hobbies that the list of tools go on and on 😀 the good thing is, many blacksmiths make their own tools!
The class for Beginning Blacksmithing fills up super fast, the students learned the basics of forging. And got to try their hand at making several things including forging a leaf! The instructors are very knowledgeable and are great teachers as well.
I was more than happy to become the owner of not one but TWO Jackpine Forge Hammers!
