Satinwood

This beautiful wood has striking curly or fiddlebacked grain pattern. This will make a pretty cool looking knife.

Didn’t get a chance to get out to the shop tonight, was really hoping to shot some video also, just one of those nights.
Thank You,
Patrick

Long Weekend

It was a long weekend, finishing knives!

We spent Sunday afternoon with some friends in Mansfield Mo. David Wendell and family from Bushcraft On Fire! David is a very giving Man and has really good training!!! I learned a lot about bushcraft. If you have benefited from his teaching I would recommend supporting David in any way you can!!! I know I will!

NY or Bust!

This Knife is going to be as sharp as it looks. Unfortunately this knife is already sold other wise it might just be hanging around my neck!!! But it is on its way to NY just as soon as I finish up the final touches. Here are some pictures of the handle almost done. It really has some nice grain to it. I Love the look of Ironwood!

Apple gets some free advertising

So tonight I got one handle on and the profile finished up on another knife. Now to finish sharping the one and make the sheath, maybe I will make a video on how I make the sheath. Then profile the handle on the other knife tomorrow. I always have super glue around, I use it on the knives to fill natural cracks and holes in material like ironwood, it also comes in handy when I cut myself 🙂 .  However it never seems to stay shut, maybe if I glued it and then didn’t do anything else (yeah right). I also thought I would throw in some free advertising for Apple’s iPhone 🙂 maybe they will give me […]

Snakewood!

Snakewood

(Piratinera Guianensis) The Snakewood tree can grown to 65-80 ft tall, with the trunk only measuring .5-1 foot in diameter.  Snakewood or also know as Letterwood can be challenging to work. When polished, it is one of the most beautiful species of hardwood. The heartwood is a dark red or reddish brown and looks like the patterns of a snake skin. Grain is typically straight. This wood comes from South America. Extremely heavy, hard and strong wood but splits easy. Very smooth when finished; has natural polish. As a rare and small tree, prices for surfaced and milled Snakewood that display the characteristic snakeskin pattern […]

Sharpening 101

So I though I would make a quick video on sharpening sense the one I filmed with Jack Spirko is missing in action. Ok so it is 18 mins long, it was quick because I didn’t do any editing just posted it as is. I will be working on a full length sharpening video soon that will cover everything. If you have never been able to sharpen a knife try implementing this technique and let me know how you do! Please leave a comment and rate this video if you like it.
Thank You,
Patrick

Artist, Artisan, and The Craftsman

The Artist, Artisan, and The Craftsman?  This is a question I am still trying to answer. Which one am I?  “Why does it Matter” You ask. Simple, determining which one you are will prevent heartbreak, and failure.
The Artist, this is someone who desperately needs to express themself in what ever they do. Willing to do what ever it takes, no matter the cost. The funny thing about an artist is most of the time they are broke doing what they are passionate about, few really appreciate what they are doing until […]
