Sharpness Challenge III Shaving a Balloon!

The Sharpness Challenge III

This has to have been one of the scariest, and most dangerous Sharpness Challenge yet. The Challenge shaving a balloon without popping it! As I am sure you can figure it out, having a balloon pop in your face is likely to cause you to jump. Which isn’t a big deal normally, but when you are holding an extremely sharp knife, it is another story! No one was injured in the making of this video, even though this picture suggest otherwise. ;D

Sharpness Challenge

When approached with this challenge I really doubted it was possible. I didn’t know if the […]

Limited Edition Rangers Finale!

Limited Edition Rangers

Wrapping up

Getting to the finial steps of the Limited Edition Rangers, I should have them all finished up hopefully this week or next. I am looking forward to starting some new knives and taking a short breather.

After the Handles have been epoxied on the next step is to cut the bolts flush and sand them flush, so the profile can be traced out and the excess cut off. Then final shaping is done on the grinder.

Being Self-employed

Being Self-employed

Being self-employed isn’t what most people think. Now I bet you are expecting me to tell you how bad it is, or rather how good it is, but really all I am saying is it isn’t what most people think. 😀 This has been an incredibly productive week and a long one as well. I have shifted back to the graveyard shift, I really enjoy working at night. There are little to no distractions, and I am more awake and alert… Well some of the time.

I shot a lot of video this week. I bet for every video I post online I shoot 5 others. I really like the time lapse video feature […]

Alien Invasion!

Alien Invasion!

Alien Invader

Alien Invasion in my shop. I look like something out of a low budget Syfy movie. Not only do I look silly but some people say the things that come out of my shop are “out of this world” Like these new scales for the Genesis 😀

Maple 3D Genesis

Maple Genesis Black

This Genesis is a one of a kind, pictures really don’t do it justice. Last week I started in on the final batch of Rangers, I am grinding finishing up grinding the blades and will be attaching the handles soon! […]

1/29 Update and MTK Private Reserve

Improving Daily

sharpening setup

While it is a very small thing, being organized really helps to be more efficient. So I finally got tired of digging through the pile of belts when sharpening, so I took a piece of scrap wood (some Bocote or something nice :D) that I had laying around and hammered a few nails in it, then screwed it to the wall. While not the best setup, still far better than what it was. It is funny how something little like this can make your work more enjoyable. A clean and organized shop (which mine is seldom but I am working on it) is […]

Making the Impossible Shot- Mirror Finish

Mirror Finish 101Mirror Finish

It has been a pretty disappointing week… why is that. Well I had all the plans to finish up the 20 LE Rangers and get started on the next go round.  I decided knife making is like trying to make the impossible full court shot! One day you can go out there and sink it on the very first try, and the next day you can shoot until your arm falls off and never make it. 🙂 Knife making is no different. Sure the more you practice the easier it is but sometimes even with all the practice in the world you just can’t […]

Loveless Drop Hunter

2015 Ranger, Bob Loveless Drop Point Hunter

Fun fact: Bob Loveless referred his knife design as a “drop hunter” not a drop point hunter. It was the collectors and such that started making the term Drop Point Hunter which makes since meaning the tip of the knife is dropped down. If you haven’t seen Jack Spirko’s review of the Ranger you can find that Here: 2015 Ranger I get tons of request to purchase one of the Rangers, however like all the Limited Edition Runs they sell out FAST! However I will have some one off Rangers available once the Rangers are done, the best way to get any knives from me is to sign up for […]
