MT Knives Private Reserve Giveaway 5.13.16
Private Reserve Giveaway April/May
I joined the ABS in March of last year, and I am currently working on getting certified as a Journeyman Bladesmith, and hopefully a Master Bladesmith someday. This last week has been packed with tons of information. I put together a short three min video of some of the highlights of this week. Jim Crowell is a Master Bladesmith and taught the first week of the class. He has been making knives for 36 years (almost my entire life :O ) and it shows. It is amazing how much you can learn from someone who is a Master at their craft. If you would like to learn more about the ABS you can
Six years ago I was leaving my family and boarding a plane to fly across the USA for the first time to learn all that one can in a one week Intensive Bladesmithing Class. I was to make 3 knives in my first week, a neck knife, kitchen knife, and then design and make my first custom knife. And now I am getting ready to do it again this time not across the USA, just a few hours from home. But this time it will be a two week class.
People get wrapped up in […]
I will be at Darby Simpson’s Homesteading Workshop June 9-11, we will be focusing on production and butchering of pastured poultry, pork and rabbits. I will be presenting a power point on sharpening as well as helping with butchering. Click Here to learn more! I will also be sharpening knives and there to help people hands on learning how to sharpen. I might even bring the throwing knives if people are interested in that as well. There are only 30 spots and I am sure they will fill up fast, so if you can make it be sure to sign up early! I really look […]
The Sharpness Challenge III
This has to have been one of the scariest, and most dangerous Sharpness Challenge yet. The Challenge shaving a balloon without popping it! As I am sure you can figure it out, having a balloon pop in your face is likely to cause you to jump. Which isn’t a big deal normally, but when you are holding an extremely sharp knife, it is another story! No one was injured in the making of this video, even though this picture suggest otherwise. ;D
When approached with this challenge I really doubted it was possible. I didn’t know if the […]
That is right, there will be a knife giveaway next week, an Auction, and a new YouTube video. Lots of great stuff. Sorry I haven’t got an update up in a while but I was doing my best to get all the knives out, and now I have a little breather! 😀
I will be giving away this 2015 Limited Edition Ranger sometime next week to one of the Private Reserve Members. If you would like to join be sure and sign up Here MT Knives Private Reserve * You must be 18 or older, shipping will be included in the US. There are tons […]
Getting to the finial steps of the Limited Edition Rangers, I should have them all finished up hopefully this week or next. I am looking forward to starting some new knives and taking a short breather.
After the Handles have been epoxied on the next step is to cut the bolts flush and sand them flush, so the profile can be traced out and the excess cut off. Then final shaping is done on the grinder.
The lanyard hole pin is put in and […]
Being self-employed isn’t what most people think. Now I bet you are expecting me to tell you how bad it is, or rather how good it is, but really all I am saying is it isn’t what most people think. 😀 This has been an incredibly productive week and a long one as well. I have shifted back to the graveyard shift, I really enjoy working at night. There are little to no distractions, and I am more awake and alert… Well some of the time.
I shot a lot of video this week. I bet for every video I post online I shoot 5 others. I really like the time lapse video feature […]
Alien Invasion in my shop. I look like something out of a low budget Syfy movie. Not only do I look silly but some people say the things that come out of my shop are “out of this world” Like these new scales for the Genesis 😀
This Genesis is a one of a kind, pictures really don’t do it justice. Last week I started in on the final batch of Rangers, I am grinding finishing up grinding the blades and will be attaching the handles soon! […]
While it is a very small thing, being organized really helps to be more efficient. So I finally got tired of digging through the pile of belts when sharpening, so I took a piece of scrap wood (some Bocote or something nice :D) that I had laying around and hammered a few nails in it, then screwed it to the wall. While not the best setup, still far better than what it was. It is funny how something little like this can make your work more enjoyable. A clean and organized shop (which mine is seldom but I am working on it) is […]
